Quality, not quantity

MY STORY

I’ve allways been drawn to everything that is genuine and authentic. Growing up my mother was a restorer of antique oriental rugs and my dad was a window restorer. Being surrounded by objects with high quality that you take god care of rather than always throwing away and buying new stuff, had a decisive influence on my worldview.

However, I have for some reason allways been using kitchen knives that are mediocre at best. And just like most people I’ve had no idea how to maintain them. So one day after using a pull-through sharpener, resulting in a slightly duller than the alredy tomato-crushing edge, it just came to me: Accepting that a knife just keep getting duller and duller until you buy a new one (to slowly dull) is not a choice I want to make!

Because in that moment it became a choice. A choice to continue as before or to learn how to properly take care of knives. I followed the imprinted worldview of my childhood (or was it the frustration pushing me?) and from there I fell down the rabbit hole of handmade kitchen knives and the chase after perfection. Suddenly I didn’t just sharpen the knives in our home kitchen, I made the knives we use from scratch.

When you buy a knife, the most important aspect is honesty. Honesty from your self about how you are going to use the knife and why you are buying one. And honesty from the knife maker on the properties and the quality of the knife. And that is what I want to do: Help you getting a knife that gives you as much joy as possible!

I hope to hear from you soon!

Yours sincerely,

Tobias Kihlman
